Justice Jyothimani said ‘Chennai’s green cover was already less than what is required and stood at about 6%. The devastating cyclone had further reduced the green cover by 2% and it presently stands at around 4%. There is therefore immediate need to increase the green cover to compensate for this huge loss. Tree planting is the only solution and everyone should take up this as their personal responsibility to increase the green cover, so that we will leave a better world for our children. Students and youth should be actively involved so that they can enthusiastically participate in this great task’. He further added that Exnora has been carrying out several environmental and social activities for more than 25 years and it is commendable that they have decided to concentrate only on Re-Greening Chennai during 2017.

More than 250 students and teachers were participated in this event and took oath to contribute to the Re-Greening activity throughout the year.
