Bala Mandir class for students

Sri Ramakrishna Math will conduct Spiritual and Cultural classes for children under the age group of 8 to 13 years.

The duration of the courses is July 1 to Feb. 28.

The classes will be on Sundays from 8.30 a.m. to 12.30 a.m..

The following are the curriculum of the courses:

Vedic chanting, Gita, Bhajans, Stotram and Basic value scriptures in Tamil

Drawing, Story-telling and Yogasanas Life and Teachings of Sri Ramakrishna, Holy Mother Sri Sarada Devi and Swami Vivekananda. Karma yoga - Developing skills. Talks on Values and our culture by monks and scholars.

Neighbourhood youth completed cycling journey 2200 kms

S.Sathish Kumar (27 years) resident of Ramapuram, Kannadasan Nagar, attempted a cycling journey from Ramapuram, Chennai to India Gate, Delhi . He successfully completed the journey (2200kms) from Chennai to New Delhi. He started his trip on May 26 and completed on June 21. He wanted to make his parents proud of him. He completed his graduation (M.Sc. Software Engineer) in Sathya bhama University. He said to Porur Times,his dream is to travel the world by bike/ car by getting sponsorship and meet new people and experience how life is in all parts of the world. His Mother is working for ironing and father is tailor. His friends gave a more support for this journey. He can be contacted in 99406 21941.

Drawing and handwriting competition on June.24

Creative Kids Academy will conduct drawing and handwriting competition on June 24, from 9.30 a.m. to 11 a.m. in No.23, Sindhu Street, VND Avenue, Madhanandapuram.

Drawing competition for students of LKG to Std.8 and handwriting for Std.2 to Std.8.

Prizes will be given for the winners and certificate for all the participants.

Registration is free.

Yoga day celebrated at Velammal

Students of class 6 to 8 from Velammal Main school, Mogappair campus made a human formation of “Yoga Day” to commemorate International Yoga Day in its campus.
Students performed various asanas and the importance of maintaining a health life style was emphasized during the school assembly.

Velammal Vidyalaya (Alapakkam) students practiced yoga on the occasion of International Yoga Day.
They emphasized the benefits of yoga which helps to control the mind, body and soul.

Free medical camp on June.24

The Alchemist trust organized Swaasta, a free medical camp for men and women of all age groups on June 24 from 7 a.m to 9 a.m in Chandrasekar Kalyana Mandapam, No. 34 Ellaiamman Koil Street, near Kittu park, West Mambalam.

Justice P. Jyothimani (Retd.) will be the chief guest of the programme.
A. Chandrasekar (Chairman of Chandrasekar Builders) and R. Govindaraj (President of Greater Chennai Exnora) will be the guests of honours.

The free medical camp will screen participants for various illnesses including vision problems.
Free blood pressure, blood sugar test will be done at the venue. Medical consultants from Panacea Holistic Home Care in general medicine, gynaecology, diabetes, cardiology, geriatrics, ophthalmology and orthopaedics will be available for consultation.
